Food Photography Info…

Food, Glorious Food…

For many of us, we like food a little too much! Food can be colorful, pretty, inviting and when I’m doing food photography, I aim to make it all those things! If I’m shooting the food here in my studio, I have many props to add style and ambiance to the background. I often use my own kitchen and there are many props I can borrow there and it becomes another wing of my studio. I have photographed a few food projects in my home/studio wherein I prepared the meal/recipe. But most often I go on location to shoot whether it be a restaurant, ranch or other event facility. When doing location work, I like to scout the facility and find the best place to photograph the food. I look for warm lighting, colors and interesting backgrounds that not only flatter the cuisine but also give flavor to the atmosphere of the establishment. Once we’ve identified the right place to photograph, we can plan props and styling and make our location set. This is the fun part!

On the day of the shoot, the food is prepared, set and photographed, then on to the next. It goes fairly quickly when working on location as we want the food hot or cold and looking freshly prepared and at it’s best!

Once the shoot is done, Images are fully edited, saved into two file sizes, High resolution for printing and web resolution for website, social media and email use.  Files are uploaded to my Cloud service where you can download the images. I give you all the images edited, you don’t have to choose- this is different from many photographers. This gives you a several angles/perspectives, and adds to your variety to keep your web and social media postings fresh.

It’s a pretty seamless process, especially with the location shoot. If I am shooting at home, we can arrange food pickup or delivery. UPS, Fedex or USPS works for packaged foods.
