Often when I head for a day in the park, meaning Yellowstone, I say to myself, I’m not going to photograph bison today, I have lots and lots of bison… but then there they are, looking so powerful, so ancient, a connection to time. And then I’m photographing more bison. This was such a beautiful spot, they were on a hill, so I was shooting up. It was fall, and the perfect cloudy sky… it doesn’t get much better than this!
