Our high mountain lakes here in Montana are hard to get to. The roads are barley maintained, it’s a slow go and it better not be raining or snowing or you may never make it there or back! There’s leaches in the lakes and Griz and Black bear live nearby… it’s a dicey endeavor for sure! But if you can brave the bears, leaches and roads, the rewards are priceless. This was a female otter, with pups about! She climbed up on this rock and I photographed her (two seconds she was gone!) and off she went.  *This image should only be printed in square sizes!
